1. AI Disclosure
- Digital Twins are AI companion chatbots and not human.
- Disclosure shown during onboarding and in all Twin conversations.
- Service is 18+; companion chatbots may not be suitable for some minors.
2. Safety Protocols
- Digital Twins avoid self-harm content and sexual explicit content.
- Crisis referrals when self-harm is detected: 988 and Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).
- Filters to prevent harmful or explicit responses.
- Published protocols here for transparency.
3. Crisis Referrals
If self-harm signals are detected, replies are blocked and crisis resources are provided: Call or text 988; text HOME to 741741; contact emergency services if in immediate danger.
4. Reporting (July 1, 2027)
Beginning July 1, 2027 MatchWell will file annual reports to the California Office of Suicide Prevention covering referral counts and safety protocols (no personal identifiers included).
5. Ongoing Compliance
- Regularly review SB 243 requirements and update protocols.
- Monitor for regulatory guidance changes.
- Maintain crisis response and filtering.
